Post-Doctoral Fellows

Dr. Juliet M. Nyanamba, Ph.D

Juliet is a postdoctoral scholar in the Culture and Family Life Lab. Before joining the lab, she was a postdoc in the Center for Advancing Racial-Ethnic Equity (CARE) for Families lab at Vanderbilt University where she received training on community-engaged research, family-based interventions, and behavioral health equity for African American families. Prior to that, she completed her PhD. in Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University, an MS in Developmental Psychology at University of Dundee in Scotland and a BA in Psychology at USIU, Kenya. Her research focus has evolved over time to concentrate on African immigrant families, their unique environmental stressors, subsequent behavioral health outcomes, and resilience processes. This also includes understanding how these stressors get under the skin to cause adverse mental and physical health (i.e., stress physiology). She hopes her work will inform the development of culturally sensitive interventions and policies that promote equity in behavioral health for African immigrant families.
