Child Wellbeing Research Group

Get involved

The focus of this research group is on upstream factors affecting children's well-being (e.g., laws, policies, lawmakers, and other social and structural determinants of health and health inequities).

We are not planning to conduct any additional studies on the impact of early adversities on negative outcomes or on secondary/tertiary prevention strategies aimed at alleviating the impact of adversities.

Please also note that this research group is for students who take their education seriously. If you rely on artificial intelligence tools to do your thinking, reading, and writing for you, please do not apply to join this group.

Graduate and post-doctoral students

If you are interested in joining this research group, please e-mail Canan Karatekin, PhD (karat004@umn.edu). To learn more about what to expect as a graduate student in the Child Wellbeing Research Group, please read this document outlining what you can expect from Dr. Karatekin as an advisor/mentor and what she expects from graduate students.

If you have general questions about ICD's PhD program in developmental psychology, email icdapply@umn.edu.

Please refer to CPSY 4994 (undergraduate directed research) opportunities for information on how to get involved.
