Social/structural determinants of health

We are currently writing up the results of a case study of the passage of the Child Tax Credit in Minnesota in 2023, using a framework of social and structural determinants of health and health inequities (SSDHHI) we developed (Karatekin et al., 2024). Graduate students in the lab are also conducting studies on parental incarceration and firearm violence. Undergraduate students are doing a project on paid family leave.

Going forward, we expect to continue to use a revised version of the SSDHHI framework to further examine the Child Tax Credit and other factors affecting children's wellbeing.
