Each semester we seek undergraduate Research Assistants (RAs) to participate in our lab for directed research credit (CPSY 4994) or, occasionally, as volunteers. We’d love to consider you for our team!
How to apply
The requirements for Directed Research in this research group are attending weekly research meetings (Mondays 9:30-10:30 OR Wednesdays 1:00-2:00 on Zoom in Spring 2025), doing some weekly reading, an oral presentation, and coding and other activities related to current research projects.
We are currently conducting research on social and structural determinants of health and health inequities. In particular, we are examining the passage of the state Child Tax Credit in Minnesota in 2023. This research would be a good fit for you if you are interested in learning more about how upstream societal factors affect children’s health and well-being. This research group would not be a good fit for you if you are interested in obtaining hands-on experience with children and families.
If you are interested in joining this research group, please fill out this brief RA application first and e-mail it to Dr. Karatekin (karat004@umn.edu).
