The Learning Informatics Lab is excited to announce the semifinalists for the ImBlaze X CEHD LIL Graduate Research Competition 2025!

Semifinalist 1
Lauren Flynn
PhD student in Educational Psychology
(Learning and Cognition)
My work examines the methods that school coordinators and students use to establish the opportunities they enter into ImBlaze and how the characteristics of these connections relate to student outcomes, such as student satisfaction and sentiment.
Semifinalist 2
Vishal Kuvar
PhD student in Educational Psychology
(Learning and Cognition)
Students' ideal vision for an internship, the available opportunity, and how closely these two align might influence the intern's emotional engagement at the workplace. We explore how this Interest-Opportunity differential and the subsequent engagement varies across levels of interest specificity, prior experience, and academic achievement.
Semifinalist 3
Chris Steadman
PhD student in Educational Psychology
(Learning and Cognition)
This project is looking at how internship experiences impact students' grades and attendance, as well as how the problem solving approaches they use during those internships correlate to academic buoyancy and experience satisfaction.

This project explores how different types of AI interaction patterns, such as exploratory, instrumental, and reflective use, shape high school students' internship experiences and influence their learning, engagement, and skill development.
What's Next?
Each semifinalist will be working in collaboration with ImBlaze over the summer and fall to refine their research ideas and collect data. Our semifinalists will then present their results at the end of 2025 and a winning project will be selected.
