Data Management for Data Sharing Workshop Recap

Author: Valerie Umscheid
August, 2026

In June 2026, I attended the Data Management for Data Sharing Workshop hosted at Vanderbilt University. The workshop covered a variety of topics, including data documentation, capture, cleaning, de-identification, and sharing. I am excited to bring what I learned back to my work on the DSCN Lab’s NSF- and NIH-funded projects on how children’s and adolescent’s executive functioning, personality traits, and economic preferences are related to their interest and achievement in STEM and their physical and mental health outcomes. In particular, I am working on preparing these studies’ datasets to be ready to share on a public repository to make sure that the data collected by the DSCN Lab is accessible for others to use, analyze, and learn from.
