Alex Hanson

Bio: Alex is a Ph.D. student in the Family Social Science department at the University of Minnesota. She held a few different positions before becoming a graduate student, but her role as a juvenile detention officer has lead to her research focus today. Specifically, she focuses on studying the prevention of and parental influences on the development of adolescent and adult antisocial behaviors, especially for those who become involved in the juvenile legal system.

Yunqi He

Bio: Yunqi (Kay) He is a Ph.D. student in the Family Social Science department at the University of Minnesota. Kay received a M.A. in communication from Rutgers University and a B.A. in psychology and communication from the University of Delaware. She is interested in finding ways to support children who have experienced trauma and families who are at risk due to living circumstances. After Kay finishes her Ph.D., she hopes to hold a faculty position where she can complement her research career with teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In her spare time, Kay likes watching stand-up comedy and traveling.

Guanyu Wang

Bio: Guanyu Wang is a Ph.D. student (CFT track) in the Family Social Science department at the University of Minnesota. She was born and raised in Hebei province and Beijing, China. She came to the U.S. in 2012, received her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Washington-Seattle, and her M.A. and M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University-New York. After practicing as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for 3 years, Guanyu refined her research interests to focus on Chinese immigrant families, father-child relationships, and cultural-sensitive interventions to promote positive family relationships. During her spare time, she enjoys playing with her cat (Ginger), taking care of plants, hiking, photography, and baking.

Yubo Xu

Bio: Yubo is a Ph.D. student in the family social science department at the University of Minnesota. She is interested in studying the long-term effects of parenting intervention on children’s social development and school readiness, especially for disadvantaged families. She is intrigued by the potential role of technology in facilitating and enhancing these interventions.
