About

The Minnesota Consortium for School Psychology Internships (MCSPI) responds to the needs of systems that serve children and youth by:

  • conducting research that informs practice, policy, and professional learning;
  • developing school psychologists who are leaders in scholarship and practice;
  • recruiting high-quality interns with diverse cultural backgrounds (e.g., ethnicity, gender, and experience);
  • promoting knowledge and scientifically-based practices that recognize classrooms, schools, homes, and communities as critically important settings that influence outcomes for children and youth
  • promoting knowledge and scientifically-based practices that incorporate an ecological perspective to improve academic, social, behavioral, and emotional competence of children and youth

We emphasize service delivery to improve provision of Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) facilitating students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development and believe a school psychologist is responsible for integrating and explaining psychological theories and principles relevant to development and performance. Interns are expected to develop into ethical, professional scientist-practitioners who aspire to be future leaders in their field and work towards the betterment of the community.
