What is the learning analytics graduate certificate?

With the rise of “big data”, knowing how to effectively and ethically use educational data to inform research and practice is crucial. The Learning Analytics Graduate Certificate will develop your understanding of the fundamentals of learning analytics and allow you to effectively incorporate analytics into educational practice and research.

What courses will I take?

As a student in our learning analytics graduate certificate program, you’ll take courses in computer science, curriculum and instruction, educational psychology, and broader areas of human development. Required coursework is organized around three broad categories related to learning analytics: foundations, theory, and analytics.

How do I apply?

To be admitted to the learning analytics graduate certificate program, you must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or be an international student pursuing a full-time academic program at the University of Minnesota. Previous coursework in research methods and statistics is required. Applications received by December 15 (spring start), April 30 (summer start), and July 31 (fall start) will be prioritized.
