Spanish Individual Growth and Development Indicators Project

Spanish IGDI Team

This project, conducted collaboratively by researchers at the University of Minnesota and Utah State University, will develop, evaluate, and test the implementation of a newly designed suite of Spanish Individual Growth and Development Indicators (S-IGDIs). S-IGDIs specifically target assessment of Spanish-speaking preschool children’s early literacy and language skills in Spanish.

This four-year project will be completed in six phases, with an ultimate goal to better understand and prevent low academic achievement in the growing student population of English language learners, which is one the greatest challenges facing educators today.

During the project period, researchers will develop, evaluate, and prepare for dissemination measures that reflect contemporary criteria for assessment of Spanish language and early literacy to complement existing English language and literacy IGDI measures.
