Remote Enculturation Project

The Remote Enculturation Project (RE Project) includes a team of researchers from the Culture and Family Life Lab and a team of researchers from the University of Victoria in Canada.

  • We introduced the concept of RE in a 2016 Child Development Perspectives article , “Introducing Remote Enculturation: Learning Your Heritage Culture From Afar.”
  • We have recently designed a measure of RE and concluded the first empirical research study on this topic. Initial findings were presented at the 2017 International Academy for Intercultural Research (IAIR) meeting, and at the 2018 International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology (IACCP) Conference. This research team is currently preparing a manuscript for publication.
  • We are planning to study RE as part of other ongoing studies in the Lab.
